Dissatisfied with the result June 22, 2010 R. Duggan (Pittsburgh, PA USA) 0 out of 4 found this review helpful
As a college student who read this book and now study at the first college to which Pope attends, I can say I dislike my school very much. Thanks a lot Loren Pope.
Start thinking about college here June 4, 2010 J. Kennel (Terre Haute, IN USA) We bought both the old and new versions of this book and really enjoyed the perspectives Loren Pope gives. I suggest this is a great starting point when your child is in middle school or early high school to get you to look at a little broader view of colleges. Even if you don't attend one of these schools, the information helps you think outside the box about what you really want to get out of college and what will best suit you. Mr. Pope died in 2008 at the age of 98 so you can't follow him on a social media site, but his books/writings are well worth the read. Two thumbs up!
Great doing business with you March 28, 2010 Linda C. 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
There were no surprises with this transaction. The book was as described and arrived in the expected time frame. Would buy again from this seller without any hesitation.
Colleges from a different view March 18, 2010 K. Sido (Chicago) I saw this book at Earlham College in Richmond, IN and thought it had much to offer from a different point of view. To be sure, the author tends to write fondly about the colleges she reviews. With a son desiring to attend one of the schools in CTCL, a neice attending another, and a friend as a graduate of still another, this was a chance to see what the talk has been about. CTCL is a much different kind of college review book than the large, telephone-directory typical books and merits a read if your student has any interest in those sorts of schools.
Fabulous Resource to Give Direction October 25, 2009 Diane Mchugh (USA) Just starting out our college search for our daughter (HS junior) and I was having a hard time getting focused--it's easy to get overwhelmed with available information. This book was just what I was looking for. We're planning a visit to Ursinus College in a couple of weeks. Great profiles of schools that DON'T include the typical SAT/GPA/tuition figures that you can find anywhere. Really gets to the heart of each school.
