Amazon.com Review "This country and this people seem to have been made for each other, and it appears as if it was the design of Providence, that an inheritance so proper and convenient for a band of brethren ... should never be split into a number of unsocial, jealous, and alien sovereignties." So wrote John Jay, one of the revolutionary authors of The Federalist Papers, arguing that if the United States was truly to be a single nation, its leaders would have to agree on universally binding rules of governance--in short, a constitution. In a brilliant set of essays, Jay and his colleagues Alexander Hamilton and James Madison explored in minute detail the implications of establishing a kind of rule that would engage as many citizens as possible and that would include a system of checks and balances. Their arguments proved successful in the end, and The Federalist Papers stand as key documents in the founding of the United States.
Product Description The documents thatshaped a nation.
Three of the founding fathers brilliantly defend their revolutionary charter: the Constitution of the United States, a milestone in political science and a classic of American history.

The Federalist Papers July 13, 2010 jakejr7 I enjoyed this book very much. It not only taught me things I never knew but was also a great review of what I learned in school. A must read for those who want to know about the true American History.
The "why" and foundation of our US Constitution June 28, 2010 pfoy This is a MUST READ for all Americans. It is the writings of our Founding Fathers about why the Constitution is written as it is and the dangers of straying from it.

The paperback book looks like new; never cracked open. No pencil marks, smudges or any sign of use. It looked like "new in box" without the box! The description was accurate and I am pleased with the purchase!

I haven't read the book yet. But am very excited that I Own it. I have told every one I know go to Amazon & order it, because it is a must for any library. My next purchace will more thatn likely be the Overton Window by Glenn Beck. I am going to have to get another book-cast to fill with books from Amazon. Thank you for being there when I want another book of history, or any other subject. Sylvia J. Mullins
A must read! May 30, 2010 Texan (Texas) This book may be boring to some, but I recommend picking this book up as it is the text that Hamiliton, Jay, and Madison wrote in favor of our Constitution. Each section describes the reasoning behind the outline and responsibilites of our federal government and the limited government they envisioned. A good book for political science students and/or American history buffs alike.
I would like to get a copy of the "Anti-Federalist" papers which is obviously the argument against the Constitution, just to get the other side's perspective during the transitioning times from The Articles of Confederation to our Constitution.
Nonetheless, I am glad the Founding Fathers ratified the Constitution, what are leaders are doing to the Consitution today is a crime.
This book includes a copy of the Constitution, Declaration of Independence, and Articles of Confederation
